Begonia maculata is part of Begoniaceae family. This plant is native to southeast Brazil. This begonia is also known as the Polka dot Begonia, or Spotted Begonia. Begonia maculata is recognizable by large angel olive-green wing-shaped leaves patterned with silver-white polka dots on top and a deep purple-red on the bottom side. During the blooming season Polka dot Begonia produces large clusters of white flowers on a single flower stem.
Begonia maculata is easy to care for, following its basic care requirements of bright, indirect light. Keep the soil evenly moist all of the time. Don’t let the plant to sit in water, it must be kept in a well draining potting mix.
