DESCRIPTION

Zelkova bonsai (Zelkova serrata) is an incredibly beautiful deciduous tree with pointed, serrated leaves. This species has the ability to accommodate any shape bonsai form.

Zelkova bonsai has fascinating fall color, and can be managed to create a spectacular bonsai tree. This plant is native to

subtropical Asia. In translation of Chinese Ginseng means root. This ficus has unique root system which is thick and strong and looks like a trunk. This plant reminds bonsai tree.

Ficus microcarpa is easy to care for, following its basic care requirements of bright indirect light and medium watering. The best way is to let the top 2cm of the soil to dry out before next watering. It is fine to keep the soil little bit moist at all times. Don’t let ficus to sit in water, this plant doesn't like wet feet, so must be kept in a well draining potting mix.

Light: Full sun in the spring and fall. During the summer place in semi-shade during the hottest parts of the day.
Temperature: 6°C - 37ºC.
Water: Don't give to dry out.
The soil should be moist, but not sopping wet.
Humidity: Recommended humidity: >40%.
Soil: Well draining potting mix.
Fertilizer: In spring and summer use a nitrogen fertilizer that is for growth.
In autumn use a fertilizer lower in nitrogen and rich in potassium.
Toxicity: not toxic.
